MASTERS PROGRAM IN INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION POLICY WITH AN EMPHASISIN AREAS
OF EQUALITY AND EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY

Harvard Graduate School of Education

The Harvard Graduate School of Education offers a Masters program, one year in length, in International Educational Policy.  The Program is focused on the study of the role of education in the promotion of social equality and looks to provide participants with the opportunity to develop skills in designing and evaluating educational reforms in order to improve the quality of education for all.  The program brings together a community of scholars who share an interest in the critical study of themes of equality in a comparative international context.  The curriculum is rigorous yet flexible, offering options in four required areas of study: Theoretical and Conceptual Frameworks, Evaluation and Research Design, Analytical Tools, and Planning and Implementation Studies.  The academic courses, discussion seminars and other activities give the students opportunities for discussion with researchers and professionals that work in the areas of poverty and inequality at the global level.

Graduates of the program are prepared to pursue careers in educational planning at the national and regional levels, to carry out applied research at government agencies, think tanks, nongovernmental and teachers organizations, as well as international development agencies.  Program graduates distinguish themselves by their substantial knowledge of educational systems, by their capacity to analyze the relationships among educational change and social change, and by their understanding of the relationships among reforms in education policy and organizational and pedagogical reforms at the scholarly level.
