SUMMARY

In this article, the importance of developing creative thought is examined through results obtained from numerous studies and research carried out by the author. The notion that creativity exists only in priviledged individuals or depends upon an individuals’s own characteristics is attacked. Mention is made, however, of the importance of education and society in recognizing and developing one’s creative capacity. Stimulation during infancy may help to develop children’s attributes by identifying talent, awakening interests, recognizing potential and cultivating positive personality traits—all are essential for psychological growth. The importance of the teacher, school, family, and social settings are emphasized. This article offers concrete suggestions for effective actions, and presents the results of experiences obtained in training activities for educators.
