* Jeffrey Puryear is Project Director at the Inter-American Dialogue and served as director of the Ford Foundation’s regional office for the Andean and Southern Cone Region. He received his Ph.D. in Comparative Education from the University of Chicago, and is the author of various articles on Inter-American affairs and a book on the role of intellectuals in Chile’s transition to democracy. Andréa Olivos is a program associate at the Inter-American Dialogue. She has a Master’s degree in International Affairs from the Elliot School of George Washington University. Andréa contributes to Dialogue projects on education, hemispheric governance, and Peru. Most recently she has served as an elections monitor for the OAS in Peru and Haiti.
